Description

We are looking for an experienced team lead Java Engineer to build the next generation Sports Platform. The ideal person will be responsible for development, delivery and maintenance of the features and other deliverables for your team within their respective Technical Area, as well as career development, guidance, coaching and support of your team members. You will work closely with the team to design elegant solutions, troubleshoot difficult problems and introduce solid processes, which you will help maintain and adapt to encourage continual improvement of the team’s performance. Our systems are designed to handle millions of transactions a minute and you will play a key part in making sure our platform can handle it with ease.

Education Requirements

A Technical degree is not required for this opportunity but is desired.

Qualifications

Any further Web development/Software engineering qualifications are not required but are a plus if you have them.

Experience Requirements

Exposure to any or several of the following technologies, principles and disciplines will be beneficial

● Core Server side Java development using either Java 8, Java 11 or Java 12 in a Cloud environment
● Unit Testing Frameworks such as JEST, Enzyme, JUnit, TestNG, Mockito, Cucumber, Jasmine, Mocha etc and testing best practices
● Database Technologies - RDBMS (e.g. Oracle, IBM DB2, CloudSQL), NoSQL (e.g. MongoDB, Neo4j)
● Build Automation and Continuous Integration (Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, Team City, Hudson, Git, Subversion, Grunt, Gulp)
● Scripting with the Linux command shell
● Messaging Technologies - (e.g. EMS, ActiveMQ, Camel, etc)
● API design
● Experience working on high-throughput, low latency systems and/or high-volume APIs and products
● Experience with Performance testing, both end to end and on serverside
● Previous experience of leading a small-sized team
● Track record of building an engaging culture for high performing teams
● Experienced in coaching and mentoring team members
● Google Cloud Platform
● Google Dataflow and Pub/Sub or Kafka

Responsibilities

What you’ll do:

● Lead a mixed skill-set team within Livescore, to design and develop high quality, end-to-end solutions
● Help the team to work efficiently within a cross-functional development environment
● Mentor team members and help them develop both their technical and soft skills
● Drive the continuous improvement of the tools and processes within the Area
● Suggests improvement to process and methodologies that will deliver repeatable and commercial benefit
● Highlight and respond to risks as they arise rather than allowing potential technology problems to grow
● Seeks out better ways to deliver additional value to the business through technology-based solutions
● Able to understand the current architecture and keeps abreast of new and emerging technologies
● Encourage the team to work with their architect to adhere to standards and architectural designs and vision
● Works with Product Owners and Business Stakeholders to understand priorities and help manage the backlog, ensuring the team delivers quality, on time
● Takes an active role in developing the technical skills of others and in ensuring knowledge is shared across the platform
● Translates technical and business objectives into meaningful and motivational team objectives
● Motivates and leads teams effectively, through difficult project and complex technical issues
● Encourage knowledge sharing within the team
● Acts as a role model for other team members
