Conferences you must put in your diary for 2014

ExhibitionIn our previous blog post, we discussed a number of ways to improve your knowledge and keep your technical skills sharp. This time, we want to get you away from the computer screen and out into the real world.

Conferences, expos and shows are excellent places to learn about what’s happening in your industry.  They are also extremely valuable networking opportunities. Whatever your area of expertise, make sure you put these conferences in your diary next year…

Digital Marketing

Brighton SEO www.brightonseo.com April 2014

Brighton SEO is a search marketing conference located in the seaside city it’s named after.  Speakers include CEOs, agency founders and specialists in the world of search engine optimisation. Laid back but highly informative, the all-day conference is preceded by a day of training workshops. Although you have to pay for these, the conference itself is free to attend.

Content Marketing Show www.contentmarketingshow.com July 2014

The Content Marketing Show caters for a number of digital disciplines including social media, online PR, SEO and content strategy. Typical attendees include agencies, in-house marketing teams and business owners. The varied audience is reflected in the diverse range of speakers. While not every talk will be relevant, you’ll definitely come away with a few ideas to improve your work.

MeasureFest www.measurefest.com May 2014

MeasureFest dives deep into data, exploring web analytics, conversion rate optimisation and usability. It’s a relatively new event – the first conference only took place this year. However, it’s organised by the same team behind Brighton SEO and the Content Marketing Show. Following a similar format to those conferences, MeasureFest is a free all-day event with training workshops taking place the day before.

eCommerce

eCommerce Expo www.ecommerceexpo.co.uk 1st and 2nd October 2014

The ecommerce expo in London is a great learning and networking opportunity. Over 50 seminar sessions take place, featuring presentations from the ecommerce experts, case studies and practical sessions. RBTE is Europe’s largest and fastest growing retail event. The event is expected to attract over 9,000 visitors and has something for all parts of your retail team, including marketing, merchandising, fraud, supply chain, eCommerce, IT, operations and payments.

Held at the NEC in Birmingham, the IRX is full of relevant content all about the retail business industry. There are 6 conferences covering a range of topics including customer experience and journey, international retailing and operations and logistics, plus 7 workshops run by industry experts.

Web Development

Don’t fancy sitting in a conference all day? London Web Standards run a monthly evening meetup for web developers. At this informal event, sit back with beer and pizza whilst watching talks on a wide range of web development topics. London Web Standards usually take place on the third Monday of the month although the date can change.

UX

Spanning three days, UX London brings together user experience designers from around the world. Each day of the conference focusses on a different theme – products, people and platforms. MK Geek Night mkgeeknight.co.uk 24th January (all-day conference) and 13th March

Based in Milton Keynes, MK Geek Night is a quarterly event for anyone in the creative industries – be it web development, design, UX or even photography. The mini-conference is an evening event but 2014 sees the launch of a new, all-day event.

Mobile

This event is held in Barcelona at the Fira Gran Via.
